About the Center for Alternative Pathway Programs (CAPPS)

Educate, Empower, Employ

The Center for Alternative Pathway Programs (CAPPS) provides an alternate approach to obtain cutting-edge, real-world credentials that are in demand and add value to your career path. For students, these acquired skills will enhance your degree and prepare you with the necessary skills for career-readiness in the workplace environment. For professionals already in the workplace environment, these earned credentials demonstrate additional skill sets that increase your value as employees. These earned credentials are visually represented as digital badges that you can place on your resume and within social media to verify to an employer your attained knowledge and achieved skill. CAPPS provides you with the knowledge and skills needed to either obtain a first-time job, if you are a student, or achieve advancement in your current career path, if you are a working professional.  For employers, the acquired skills will allow your employees to stay current with the field and allows your organization to stay competitive.

About Micro-Credentials

A micro-credential is a new, alternative type of credential that certifies demonstrated knowledge of specific learned skills to others. Micro-credentials are personalized to your learning needs, and they are sharable through email, digital resumes and portfolios, signature taglines, websites, and social media, such as linked in. The great thing about micro-credentials is that they are customized building blocks for your professional growth and development that provides you skills to enable you to grow and advance throughout your career - they are flexible, portable, and stackable, you can take classes on your time, and then take the digital badge with you no matter where you go. Micro-credential courses are created by experts in the field and are based on a robust, standardized blueprint that is grounded in instructional design best practices to transfer that knowledge to you.
